The buffs here are designed primarily to make Arcane more competitive with Fire / Frostfire builds in PvE. Because they could end up buffing Arcane in PvP, we are prepared to adjust the damage of say Arcane Barrage if needed, but we want to see these in action on the PTR first.
Mage PvE damage in general is something we are keeping a close eye on. With the recent hunter changes, many of which were nerfs to PvE damage, we want to make sure mages now don’t break away from the pack of damage-dealing specs.
1) Evocation – cooldown reduced to 4 min.
2) Arcane Flows – now also reduces the cooldown of Evocation by an additional 1 / 2 min.
3) Arcane Blast – overhauled. Will now increase the damage of your next Arcane spell by 15%. However using Arcane Blast itself does not consume the charge, but instead increases the mana of your next Arcane Blast, up to a maximum of 3 stacks (and a 45% buff). You can alternate Blast and Barrage to keep buffing Barrage, or you can build Blast up higher for a heavy mana cost.
4) Torment the Weak – now works with Arcane Blast and does bonus damage to targets afflicted by any kind of slowing effect (e.g. Thunder Clap).
5) Elemental Precision – renamed Precision and now works on all spells.
6) Improved Blizzard – snaring effect reduced to 20/40/50%.
EDIT: We recently made the Arcane Blast stack 15/30/45% to your next Arcane spell.
---
I'll try to explain this better. It sounds more confusing than it is. Here is the tooltip:
Blasts the target with energy, dealing X Arcane damage. Each time you cast Arcane Blast, the damage of all Arcane spells is increased by 15% and mana cost of Arcane Blast is increased by 200%. Effect stacks up to 3 times and lasts 10 sec or until any Arcane damage spell except Arcane Blast is cast.
Consider a few scenarios:
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Barrage
Next Arcane Barrage is 15% more damage.
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Missiles
Each missile in the next volley is 15% more damage.
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast
The second Blast does 15% more damage, but costs 3x normal cost.
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast
The third Blast does 30% more damage, but costs 5x normal cost.
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast
The fourth Blast does 45% more damage, but costs 7x normal cost.
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast
Any Blast beyond the fourth is still at 45% more damage, and still costs 7x. I wouldn't do this. :)
Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Blast -> Arcane Barrage
The Barrage is 45% more damage, but at the normal cost and consumes the charge so you are back to normal damage after that.

Re: Mage

1. Arcane Barrage can no longer clip arcane missles for the arcane blast buff (figured this would be fixed soon).
2. Arcane Blast Glyph is apparently only 3% per stack instead of 5%.
3. Arcane Blast Glyph bonus damage is no longer applied to arcane missiles.
1. This change was by design. While it might have been a fun test of skill, the fact is that Arcane is probably too powerful in PvE and PvP and we didn't want to make matters worse with this little trick.
2. This change was also by design. As many players have pointed out, it was just too good.
3. This is a bug likely caused by the previous two changes. Such is the risk of making changes quickly. We can hotfix this bug out though.

Re: Mage

Spell hit rating is the best stat you can get, by a large margin. All spell casts use a 2 roll system, which means they must hit before they can crit or partial resist. Additionally, only 26.2 hit rating is required to add 1% hit chance with spells. Because of this, spell hit rating is better than any other stat. The base chance for any spell to resist, before talents, is 83% against a boss level mob (+3 levels). Any talent that describes itself as "reducing the opponents chance to resist" increases your chance to hit. Beyond that, gear can be used to improve your hit chance to a maximum of 100%. Once you reach the 100% hit mark, further hit rating is completely useless and you are considered "capped". With rare exceptions, gearing below the hit cap will almost assuredly result in a loss of potential dps.
The following is a list of all mage stats in order of effectiveness (for fire spec):
spell hit rating (to cap) > spell damage > spell crit rating > spell haste rating > intellect > spell penetration
Arcane mages follow a slightly different scale:
spell hit rating (to cap) > spell damage > spell haste > spell crit rating > intellect > spell penetration
Haste is now of questionable value because mana is much tighter than it was before 3.0. Every stat increases dpm except for spell haste.
Spell penetration is of almost no value at all, it's primarily a pvp stat. Spell crit rating tends to come prepackaged on a lot of gear, but is generally not a desirable stat because it takes a monstrous 45.9 points of it to give a 1% increase to crit rate. In all cases, check the gear against a spreadsheet or other theorycrafting tool to see how effective it is, as varying stat values can often make the differences between gear exceedingly difficult to eyeball.

Re: Mage
Ciao a tutti i maghetti!:ciaociao:
-
Re: Mage

Re: Mage
Domanda:
ho Annhylde's Ring http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37192#comments
Titanium Spellshock Ring http://www.wowhead.com/?item=42644
aggiungendo quindi 14 spellpower, perdendo 2 sta e sostituendo 49 haste con 42 crit?
(spec 57-3-11)
-
Re: Mage
1981 spellpower
263 hit
18.78% crit (+3% quando procca focus magic)
388 haste (11,83%)
(come equip 460.96 punti secondo Be Imba;
full T7, full epic tranne un trinket: Forge ember invece di quello da emblem Sundial of the Exiled [-11 crit])
-
Re: Mage
Io andrei per il Titanium
-
Re: Mage
Grazie!
