You play the of the rebel (Frank Harrison), who is asleep in his house, a piece for the City 17.
You wake up because the Citadel exploded, wich was caused by our known Dr.Freeman with the asistance of ALyx , the daughter of Eli Vance. The evacuation of City17 has begun and you are too close to the city , you have no choise and have to go on your legs and leave your house and join the evacuation group, In the house are some resources but dont forget your HEV suit and go. The game sets in the time of Half life 2 and his episodes (like : explosion of the citadel , the crash of the combine staler train in EP1, and the car of Ep2....).
Befor start playing this mod i recommend playingthe Half_life 2 series.

INTRO
Coven is a multiplayer mod for Half-life 2 deathmatch. It is born from Justin approaching Brenden to create a source-engine based successor to Vampire Slayer (Half-life 1 mod) infused with some Left 4 Dead versus mode action, since several of the other attempts fell through. You will find that Coven is only loosely based on Vampire Slayer- Brenden has in fact never played the game. Therefore, several of the very basic concepts are present... vampires, slayers, rounds, etc. Moreover, the Coven team has set out with the attitude to make a great game based on Valve's source engine with vampires and slayers duking it out from the ground up... our ideas not necessarily being based on anything, or in other instances heavily borrowing from vampire lore.
SLAYERS
Slayers are arranged into four classes. Each class has its own weapons, and a distinct maximum speed (all of which are slower than a Vampire). Weapons are not dropped upon death. Beware of ledges, as Slayers take substantial damage from falling. There is no way to replenish ammo (exception UV light) and health is limited, so teamwork is essential for survival. All slayers are equipped with a melee stake. This stake can be used as a melee weapon, but is the only way to kill a Vampire permanently. Once the vampire is dead, be sure to hit them with the stake to make sure they don't get back up. All slayers also get 1 holy water grenade. The Hellion gets more.
Avenger
Standard meatshield. Average speed. Carries a 9MM pistol and a 12 gauge pump action shotgun.
Hellion
Lightweight scout and expert at mischief. Fastest speed. Carries a 9MM pistol and a UV light cannon. Gets extra holy water grenades.
Reaver
Close range tank, also somewhat effective at medium range. Slow speed. Carries a 12 gauge double barrel shotgun and an SMG.
Deadeye
Mid to long range support. Great at immobilizing Vampires, collecting bodies, and countering campires. Fast speed. Carries a .357 magnum pistol and a harpoon gun.
WEAPONS
There are a few slight modifications to the classic Half-life 2 weapons. None of the shotguns possess an alternate fire mode.
Stake
Basic meat poker. Not the best way to dispatch Vampires, but the ONLY way to keep them dead.
9MM Pistol
Standard tiny pistol. Relatively accurate at short to mid range. Alternate fire is a burst fire mode.
.357 Magnum
Standard big pistol. Very accurate.
12 Gauge Pump Action Shotgun
Has a six shot clip. Packs a decent punch.
10 Gauge Double Barrel Shotgun
Very slow reload, but backs a close to mid range whallop.
UV Light Cannon
Emits a beam of intense UV light. This light can uncloak sneaky vampires, push them away from you, or even burn them if they get too close. Careful timing and aiming can even stop a leap. Ammo cells will slowly regenerate over time, but not any extreme amount.
SMG (Submachine Gun)
Fires really fast. Alternate fire mode is an accurate burst shot that can do quite a bit of damage.
Holy Water Grenade
Lob a holy grenade at vamps and watch them burn. Hitting slayers (including yourself) causes a regenerative and protective aura. Alt fire drinks a grenade to instantly restore a small amount of health.
Harpoon Gun
Shoots a deadly accurate bolt attached to you via a cable. At long range, the bolts pack a good bit of damage. At closer ranges, you will harpoon vampires instantly if you kill them. Their bodies can be dragged around at your will. Alternate fire will break the current bolt off of you. Dead vampire bodies, as well as dead slayer bodies can also be harpooned and drug about. Harpooned dead vampires cannot be kept dead indefinately, and will ressurect after a short duration. Also, the harpoon gun can be used as a grappling hook for rappelling off buildings to prevent fall damage.
VAMPIRES
Currently, there are three vampire classes. The Vampire's basic weapons are their claws. Vampires may "leap" at enemies by staying crouched. A leap meter will charge and once full, jumping (still holding crouch) will leap at an enemy. Slayers can be killed by pouncing on them. This generally occurs from a leap or jumping/falling downward onto a Slayer. Vampires also cloak while crouching and remaining motionless. Beware, movement will un-cloak you, and damage sustained will give away your position. Movement causes no sounds, and Vampires can move about at their bolstered speed with relative stealth. Falling from any height causes Vampires no damage, allowing the freedom to leap and pounce at will. Once dead, Vampires will respawn after a short time with a small amount of health. Vampires can gain vitality from killing Slayers, and then feeding on their corpses. Press the use key to feed. As a Bloodbank, press the use key to heal another vampire. Severely injured Vampires will regenerate health, but only to a small extent. The Bloodbank has an alternate blood bomb attack. At the cost of 25 blood, the Bloodbank can spew a ball of tainted blood at slayers, causing damage to those it splashes on.
Fiend
Lightweight flyer. Insanely mobile. 60 Max HP, 30 Rez HP, 30 Regen HP, Long leap, Can leap kill
Gore
Pretty tough. Can leap, but isn't an undead rocket launcher. 120 Max HP, 60 Rez HP, 60 Regen HP, Medium leap, Can leap kill
Bloodbank
Can heal vamps, spew bombs, and can feed faster. Not so great at close encounters, but still knows how to kill. 90 Max HP, 45 Rez HP, 90 Regen HP, Medium leap, Cannot leap kill

Aggiungete Pirates Vikings and Knights 2 tra i mod multiplayer, che tra qualche giorno esce anche la nuova versione (la 2.3) e sarà steam supported, e probabilmente ci giocheranno molte persone :rotolul:

scusate ho provato ad installare il mod "smod tactical 5.56" che dovrebbe essere una nuova campagna con armi moderne o qualcosa del genere..ho messo la cartella in "sourcemods" e l'ho avviato da steam, ma appena parte la presentazione del mod crasha al desktop con un messaggio d'errore che dice "no steam content servers are available"..che vol di? consigli? :look:

Finito. E' molto "azionoso" nel senso che c'è da sparare parecchio, anche se qualche enigma semplice semplice c'è. Alcune parti, quelle intermedie, assomigliano in modo spaventoso al primo F.E.A.R., anzi sono proprio uguali (allucinazioni, stanze che diventano buie all'improvviso, colori che cambiano, gente che ti passa davanti al vetro e poi sparisce nel nulla ecc ecc) sono comunque fatte bene.

Announcing: Kingdoms Collide, a total conversion fantasy MOD for half-life 2!

The idea of the game is to have really fun and balanced online multilayer combat with a very high potential range of skill and is all found within a beautiful fantasy setting, the character using a third person camera (so the melee aspect makes sense, unlike FPS camera melee games where people run around like headless chickens unable to see their surroundings). Also, like most typical fantasy RPG's we wanted to have a good level of character customization in choosing a unique weapon and skill set that suites you - as well as making each player able to have unique role within their team enabling incredible depth to teamwork, tactics and strategy!
FEATURES:
SKILLFUL MELEE: The sword fighting system, which is meant to be the basis of the game, is very complex but can be used in a variety of ways depending on your skill. You can either play with lightning fast reflex responses and win every fight, play by randomly parrying and attacking, which yields some success, or by choosing a shield and ignoring the melee element of the game entirely.
SKILLFUL ARCHERY: The bows and arrows are not easy to use like a gun in HL2. There is no cross hair, the arrow does not fire directly down your line of sight or towards the center of your screen (so you can't mark a dot in the middle) and the arrows can be fired at different speeds depending on how long you pull the sting. BUT, before you think (THIS IS MADNESS!) Fear not, the archery system does make sense and you can master it to the point of being able to place an arrow wherever you want but it takes a lot of skill!
HEAPS OF MAGIC: The magic in Kingdoms Collide doesn't exactly require skill to use, instead, it is the mark of a good player to be able to wield magic effectively and increse their overall killing power by strategically choosing spells that work with their weapons well and using them in clever combinations.
What spells are there for example?:- Teleport -instantly transport yourself forwards about 6 meters
- Fire cicle -blow up an area around yourself
- Stealth -be invisible while standing in shadow
- Glacier -summon a great spike of ice to block narrow roads or create walls
- Ensnare -summon roots from the earth to hold an enemy in place for a time
- Blizzard -spray your enemy with freezing wind to eventually freeze them in place for a time
- Fireball -throw a ball of fire
True Sight -all units glow bright with their team colour and leave behind a trail (even when in stealth)
That's just a shortened list of the most tactical spells, I'll bet you can think, just from reading those, how you could use and combine them.

Kingdoms Collide (beta)
Si comincia con scegliere il reame con cui giocare, ne esistono due: Aelkai e Kiraeth
Successivamente si passa alla scelta delle armi che spaziano tra quelle melee come la spada lunga, la spada pesante e la spada media e quelle a distanza come l'arco e la balestra (anche queste in differenti versioni) e poi c'è lo scudo, ovviamente se ne potranno scegliere solo 2 di queste armi, quindi scegliete bene secondo il vostro modo di giocare; non ho capito bene perchè l'ho giocato veramente poco ma mi par di capire che se altri prendono per esempio tutte le spade corte poi il giocatore dovrà per forza cercare altre armi.
Si passa poi alla scelta dei Perks che sono di 3 tipi:
- Extra Health
- Extra Mana
- Skill Point
La scelta successiva riguarda le magia che vogliamo usare:

Sembra veramente molto interessante per essere una beta, ma soprattutto sembra molto difficile....molto meno "arcade" di PvkII e speriamo ugualmente divertente. :D
Alcune note: l'albero delle magie mi sembra confusionario, dovrebbero farlo un po' più chiaro.

Here's what we've changed;
-More spawn points added to all maps
-Buggy parts in maps fixed
-Rounds added to the CP game mode
-3 server variables added:
"mp_roundlimitkc" = Sets the amount of rounds a team must win to win the game (default 2)
"mp_timelimitkc" = Static time limit of how long a map should last in seconds (defualt 3600)
"mp_roundtime" = Time per round in seconds, the value will change depending on in game events (defualt 480)
-holding "z" button and scrolling mouse will increase and decrease camera distance
-Console variable cam_height changes the height of camera
-Name indicators above players head can be turned on and off using "kc_nameindicator 1" in console
-Voice indication HUD element for other players speaking
-Sword hit registration made reliable
-Swords now swing 30% faster
-Balanced sword damages
-Animation overlap on skills fixed
-Defend icon (above CP) and message appears when your team needs to defend a point
-Berserk skill bugs fixed, time it lasts for lowered to 6s
-Weapon point costs added to buy menu
-Dagger assassinate angles and distance reduced slightly
-Dagger normal hit damage increased slightly
-Time to cast leap lowered by 50%
-Ensnare size increased also reduces players speed by 50% so they can move out of its range
-Ice imbue slows player for 3s, instead of freeze on spot
-Teleport shouldnt get the player stuck/caught in map
-Lightning casts 50% faster
-Javelin given the "bow" cam when thrown
-Javelin melee range increased slightly
-Icespike has more AOE and damage when exploded
-Healing self has new animation and heals for 5 less and costs 5 more mana
-Healing allies costs 10 mana and gives healer XP
-Sound plays when any spell fails due to not normal circumstances
-No "cast" animation plays when a spell fails
-All players who help capture a point will be given a frag
-Darkness imbue in correct spot in skills menu
-Gravity on javelin throw lowered
-Players shouldnt be able to get free skill on game start
-HUD indicator when you are speaking
-Fireball damage raised slightly
-Some particle effects toned down
-Totally removed all draw times of all weapons
-All bows lower drawn arrow sequence 50% faster
-Imbue with fire on bows suicide bug fixed
-Refire rate of skills/weapons optimized to suit weapon
-Sword "perfect parry" time player left open to free hit increased
-A server with no players will rotate map faster
-mp_roundtime value increased on important game events so game doesnt end when it gets exciting
-ancient_hall map removed from cycle, too small for >16 player servers
-error in v1.1 causing maps to keep changing map every 2 seconds

A me dispiace dirlo ma l'ho provato Kingdoms Collide e mi è sembrato decisamente pessimo, spero in ogni caso che continuino a lavorarci sopra e diventi una bella mod.
Personalmente ho riscaricato Dystopia ed è ancora più bello di quanto ricordassi veramente una delle migliori mod multiplayer in circolazione, peccato che non s iriesca quasi mai a trovare server popolati con un ping decente.
