November 16, 2007, brings us to the three-year anniversary of World Community Grid! In this short time, results on critical health issues have been achieved, demonstrating World Community Grid's potential to make significant inroads on a great range of future projects that can benefit the world.

There are many thanks to go around for getting us to this point in time. But the largest kudos go to our volunteer force -- the nearly 338,000+ members who have registered more than 800,000 work stations. These computers have provided more than 124 thousand years of run time toward important research and have sent back more than 128 million results, which is an impressive 1 result per second. We are extremely grateful for your contributions. Without you, this compute power would not be available for the very important research work we are helping to accelerate.

The Forum Community Advisors (a.k.a CAs) also deserve a special thank you. The CAs work tirelessly on the forums, answering questions and providing useful information, for very few rewards, except the satisfaction that they have helped get and retain more members on World Community Grid.

Thank you to the researchers for running their projects on World Community Grid. This includes:
1. The Institute for Systems Biology and the Human Proteome Folding project;
2. The Scripps Research Institute and the FightAIDS@Home project;

Help Conquer Cancer project has been paused for a few days

We discovered some problems with the results computed for the Help Conquer Cancer project and found a bug in the science calculation. In the interest of not possibly wasting any grid computation time, we paused this project for a few days and are starting testing of a fix for this problem. During this period, any members who have selected to only run this project will have paused agents. We encourage those members to consider helping with the other projects on World Community Grid. We expect the project to resume next week. We are sorry for the inconvenience and disruption.

Io mi aggrappo al fatto che non hanno detto che i calcoli fino a quel momento completati sono errati, ma che vogliono evitare possibili sprechi di capacità computazionale. Incrociamo le dita.

Beh, un progetto è normale abbia problemi appena arriva, questi errori serviranno a perfezionarlo.

Con sommo dispiacere ho Abortito la prima ed unica WU di HCC ormai giunta al 70% dopo 10 ore di calcolo! :(

Apprezzo la franchezza, anche da episodi come questi si intuisce la serietà di un progetto.

Molto ma molto bene:

We had very low error rates for the beta test on Windows and Mac, so those platforms are now eligible to receive work from the Help Conquer Cancer project.
Linux still has a very high error rate, and we are actively looking into fixing this so that we can put the Linux version back into production for this project.

Mi sa che la lunghezza delle WU di HCC sia aumentata.

Va bene che "i mhz non sono tutti uguali", ecc. ecc. ma che le WU di HCC il dual core Intel in ufficio le finisca quasi sempre in meno di 5 ore, mentre il dual core AMD di casa di pari frequenza sempre oltre le 8... fanno un po' girare le pelotas...
