Chelsea’s French defender Gallas branded the Azzurri cheats and reckons Materazzi goaded Zinedine Zidane into getting sent off in the World Cup final.

The showpiece was skipper Zidane’s last match and Gallas fumed: “When I see Zidane leaving like this, I want to smash Materazzi’s face.

"I didn’t see exactly what happened but, sometimes, football is not just about what happens with the ball.

“Sometimes you have a player who is very clever, who says something to make you so angry that you want to kill him.”

Gallas, 28, added: “We all know how the Italians are. They always act like this — when they feel they are being dominated they try to provoke you.

“Yes, they are cheaters but we can’t stop that.

“FIFA and referees see only the second act. They never look at WHY there is an incident.

“I accept when the adversary wins with honour but that is not the case. We know Zizou, he doesn’t react like that.

David Trezeguet, who missed the decisive penalty as Les Bleus lost the shootout 5-3, also refused to condemn Zidane.

Striker Trezeguet, 28, said: “He can leave with his head high. Materazzi, even if he has won the cup, cannot — because there is more to life than soccer.







“We have to remember Zidane is an extraordinary player who had an incredible World Cup.

“I’m proud that he played for France and I’d like to thank him and give him my congratulations.”

Secondo me si stanno oltrepassando i confini della decenza.
C'è troppa gente che apre la bocca solo per dire cavolate.
