Towns brings a fresh new take on the citybuilding/management genre by introducing many RPG features.
The game has you managing a settlement on top of an active dungeon. Instead of playing the hero who delves deep into the dungeon, how about playing the town that houses and caters to the hero's needs?
Both the RPG and strategic aspects will be fleshed out over a series of sprawling dungeons.
Attract travelling heroes that will independently explore the dungeons below, fight off monsters, gain levels, special skills and collect the best loot they can find in order to clear the land of all evil!
Craft unique weapons, trade with exotic items, obtain randomized loot, set up devious death traps and build a settlement capable of holding back the forces that come up from the depths!

What you should (probably) know before buying this game.
The Steam Store page for this game is essentially 100% inaccurate. Towns is not a town management game like SimCity or Majesty, it's actually a Dwarf Fortress ripoff. At the same time, it is also not a finished game - the game was still in alpha stage before it got on Greenlight and was quickly rushed to a beta in order to qualify for sale on Steam.
Although the devs insist the game is fully playable - and it technically is - the only real gameplay that exists is a very rough tutorial and a sandbox gamemode. The interface is clunky, the graphics are sprite-based and not animated whatsoever, and the entire game can be very confusing without the help of a wiki (or large amounts of experience in DF).
If you buy the game now, you are buying an unfinished product with a promise by the developer that at some point, the game will be finished, similar to how Minecraft was when it was still in indev/infdev. However, in my opinion, this game is far behind where Minecraft indev/infdev were in terms of being a complete game. If you don't want to take the risk that the developer never finishes the game, do not buy it. If you have money to blow and don't really care if the game is finished or not, wait until a sale and then buy it. I would not reccomend buying it at full price.i programmatori hanno scritto però:Let me clear some things up.
A demo exists. Before you throw down money on a game you've never played before and then complain about it. Play. The. Demo. http://www.townsgame.com/index.php?o...&id=4&Itemid=5
The game is quite complete. If you don't understand the purpose of the game then you have either never heard of Dwarf Fortress or are not a big fan of open ended sandbox games.
"Minecraft has end goal." Well it's not much of an end goal. Do you still play it after that? Of course! The end goal really didn't mean much the goal is to craft an amazing world! Have many of your friends really cared about the end goal? I know I didn't.
"The game is incomplete!" Well if you've done any programming you'd know that no software is ever complete. It's a full game with a lot of detail and obviously runs for the majority of players. If you have a bug report it to the dev, he'll fix it. Complaining about it will do no one any good other than sully a perfectly good game and keep the bugs from getting fixed.
"The tutorial is awful". It's actually fairly comprehensive. Having no background actually play DF I picked up the game quickly. Not to mention that lovely block building game every loves has absolutely no tutorial.
"But that's not a fair comparison!" Yes it is, if we're comparing some parts of Minecraft to some parts of this game then why not compare them equally. Had Minecraft made it onto Steam long before it was out of beta not even half the people on these boards would complain about games like this.
"But I still don't know what to do in the game!" The wiki covers everything the tutorial doesn't. Here's a link for you. http://www.townswiki.com/wiki/Main_Page
"I don't want a wiki I want the game to show me how to play it!" Minecraft, if you've played it, you've used the wiki, wikis are wonderful. Treat them like the game manuals of yore. Holding your hands in game less and requiring you to build some knowledge of the game from *gasp* reading about it or experiencing it.
"This all sucks, you're a stupid jerk and you make me sound whiny!" Yeah... but hey! If I can play and enjoy this game you should be able to as well. Consider this tough love. Or if you still plan to say bull, maybe you just don't like this kind of game, it is a very niche game like DF, you aren't the market they're looking for. Feel free to skip this game.
If there's something I didn't cover please bring it up!
Hello!
We read some topics about the status of the game (alpha, beta, gold, ...).
We consider the current game build fully playable and enjoyable. We plan to add A LOT of new features. Those features can take years to be finished. So, we have decided to release the game (again, fully playable) and slowly update it with new patches.
COPIO TUTTI I MESSAGGI QUI, continuate qui: http://www.***************.it/forum/...p?303886-Towns
ce l'ho, è carino e viene updatato abbastanza regolarmente.
EDIT: risolto

è in offerta a 6 euri su Steam dino a domani
