We really feel that this is the best album we've ever written, for sure; I mean, without a doubt. I think that musically speaking, it's progressive. I can tell you that much. It's very progressive. And it's heavy as well.

Dream Theater finished recording the new album!

On Friday February 25th 2005, Dream Theater wrapped up recording on their latest album. Mixing will be begin on Monday February 28th and the record will be delivered to the label in Mid-March. A release is expected for sometime around May/June through Atlantic Records.

Dream Theater began writing and recording their latest album last November at the world famous Hit Factory studios in New York City. (everybody from Michael Jackson, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Britney Spears, U2, Mariah Carey, REM, etc. etc. have all recorded at the legendary studio) As has been reported in the media several weeks ago, the famous recording studio is closing down upon the completion of Dream Theater's recording session.

This album will hold the distinction of being the VERY LAST album ever recorded at the Hit Factory in NYC. (the first was Stevie Wonder's "Songs In The Key Of Life") After the Dream Theater sessions ended on Friday night, the lights were turned off and doors were locked to the world famous studio - ending an era in the music industry....

Personalmente spero in un ritorno alle atmosfere di I&W, ACOS e Metopolis Pt.2...

Mi aspetto un CD più essenziale dei precedenti 2, perchè quello che volevano mostrare l'hanno mostrato, quello che c'era da sboronare l'hanno sboronato, e ora è tempo di badare maggiormente alla musica-sostanza. Anche se TOT lo apprezzo molto, non ne voglio certo un'altro con questa attitudine.
Sono fiducioso da questo punto di vista, stando a quanto i guys hanno detto prima e dopo le registrazioni.
Spero solo che i recenti ascolti di Portnoy non introducano rap, ambient, metalcore, psichedelia e altre cose che non mi piacciono e che con i DT c'azzeccano poco. A naso, prevedo (spero) un miscuglio di stili sperimentati in SFAM, Awake e FII, per una direzione nuova e classica al tempo stesso come lo fu SFAM ai tempi. Secondo me, ovviamente.
