gli OL sono una band originale con una forte personalità e coinvolgenti(se li si sa ascoltare).
i porcupine sono molto bravi ma fanno musica sostanzialmente di maniera,poco emozionante.

A parte Dark side of the moon per il resto non è che mi interessi molto, sono cose già sentite e risentite...

Gli Awake Demos ho paura possano rovinare la mia impressione di "Awake miglior album dei Dream Theater".

Lo sto ascoltando ora e debbo dire che lo trovo molto interessante... certo, è distantissimo dai capolavori dei queensryche, ma ha una sua bellezza soprattuto la seconda parte meno tirata dell'album!

Io l'ho ascoltato. Come hai detto tu, è per forza di cose lontano dai capolavori di una decina e passa anni fa, specialmente dal primo O:M, ma si lascia indubbiamente sentire. Cmq non sono un guru dei Queensryche.

tanto per far qualcosa vi segnalo l'uscita nei prossimi giorni del nuovo album dei paatos, interessante band svedese che pare ispirarsi a gruppi come the gathering (soprattutto, almeno a mio parere), a bjork, ai green carnation e ai portishead. insomma rock un po' dark, un po' trip, un po' prog, un po' psichedelico.

jorn lande lascia i masterplan!!!

Melodic metallers MASTERPLAN have parted ways with vocalist Jorn Lande (ex-YNGWIE MALMSTEEN/ARK) due to "musical differences." During the songwriting process for the band's third album, it became increasingly apparent that the members of the group had different visions and plans for the band's musical direction. While Jorn wanted MASTERPLAN to follow a more melodic path, the rest of the band wanted to return to the metallic roots of their debut album.

Commented drummer Uli Kusch (ex-HELLOWEEN): "We are not really happy about Jorn's decision [to leave the band], but on the other side it doesn't make sense to continue if the ideas are that different. The music would suffer from it and the music is why we are doing it. We wish Jorn a successful future and want to thank him for everything he did for us. It was a great and interesting time!"

The band are currently searching for a new singer. "There are already some possibilities that might be interesting for us, but nothing is decided yet," Uli explained. "We hope that we can already present the new singer on the gigs we are [confirmed to play later in the] year. And for sure there won't be any changes in the musical style of MASTERPLAN. We are currently working on the songs."

per quanto riguarda il ritorno di lande negli ark, mi pare una roba impossibile, sopratutto leggendo che "Jorn wanted MASTERPLAN to follow a more melodic path" e che per questo ha lasciato la band. e poi ormai ostby è occupato con il ritorno dei conception

per quanto riguarda operation mindcrime II, l'ho comprato giorni fa, all'inizio è un cd che si fa ascoltare con "entrambi gli emisferi"...cioè che intendo: da una parte ascolti la qualità intrinseca dell'album, che è ad un ottimo livello davvero, dall'altra ti metti a fare il paragone con O:MC, il primo...e naturalmente ne esce male...poi ti rendi conto che è un fulgido esempio di album che cresce con gli ascolti...più lo metti e rimetti (e non per inerzia, si lascia riascoltare da solo...) e più cominci ad amarlo...bello davvero e non solo perchè i queens mi piacciono tanto tanto già di loro...Ronnie James Dio canta in totale una canzone e 3 parole, però l'avete sentita the chase, duetto tra geoff e ronnie? spettacolo

dei conception non si sa nulla. del resto ostby non è certamente uno che fa le cose con fretta

sempre per il solito post in più, vi segnalo un paio di nuove band con tanto di mp3 downloadabili. la prima è la versione progressive dei backstreet boys, mentre la seconda la versione annacquata dei pain of salvation. scherzi a parte, due gruppi piuttosto interessanti (soprattutto i primi, almeno dal punto di vista tecnico - vedere la parte strumentale finale del brano scaricabile):

Who would have believed that Greece has one of the strongest and most fervent markets for heavy metal in the World. Not only is it a required destination for any band touring Europe but many home grown bands achieve attention from fans and the local metal media. It is from this hot bed that Wastefall emerged to create two superb progressive metal albums for the Greek label Sleaszy Rider Records. Sensory Records has now signed Wastefall world wide for the release of their third album "Self Exile."

While Wastefall has often been compared to Sweden's Pain Of Salvation their music is much more aggressive and dynamic. The band's desire to take their music to the next level led them to Denmark to work with noted producer Tommy Hansen (Helloween, Pretty Maids, Wuthering Heights). The results are quite evident – "Self Exile" retains all of the band's trademarks but the music is heavier and more immediate. When you hear "Self Exile" Pain Of Salvation will instantly spring to mind but also Pantera, vintage Metallica, and Nevermore as well. This is an album that has more than enough complexity and passion for the prog fan but is also heavy enough for any metal fan.

Wastefall will be making their North American debut appearance at the world renowned ProgPower USA festival on September 16, 2006 in Atlanta, Georgia.

Rivelata la tracklist...
Hello all -

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel and we're just about finished tracking, with only a few vocal parts, a couple of guitar solos and a bit of orchestration remaining to be finished. We hope to be done in the next two weeks...and then we need to schedule mixing in Germany with Tommy. In the meantime, we'll be working again with Travis Smith on some artwork.

Gli A.C.T., dopo i primi due ottimi album, stanno per pubblicare anche in Europa il loro terzo lavoro, chiamato Silence.
La release ufficiale è datata 21 Giugno 2006, ma in Svezia uscirà il 12 Luglio. Comunque il periodo è questo.
