Boxart for Homefront: The Revolution, Crytek’s sequel to Kaos’ 2011 FPS Homefront, has appeared online on Swedish website FZ. No details beyond that it’s a first-person action shooter due in 2015 have been given so far.

In a trend-bucking move, no PS3 version is listed on the site. Should games still be released cross-gen, or is it time for new-gen-only titles? And what are your hopes for the Homefront series now that visual wizard Crytek is in charge?

Taking place four years into the occupation of the US by Korean forces – as portrayed in the original game – Homefront: The Revolution follows a new set of characters as they battle for freedom throughout the war-torn streets of Philadelphia.

By recruiting resistance fighters and using guerilla tactics in an open-world environment, players can terrorize KPA troops and attempt to gain the upper hand either alone or along with friends in online co-op.

A short demonstration underlined that. Brady and his mates were tasked with busting some militants out of jail, and took advantage of an improvised bomb diversion elsewhere in the location to get into position. Salim later told me that diversion was not a scripted event; it was supposed to represent a human partner — there will be four-player online cooperative multiplayer — providing a big assist to the operation. (Salim would not discuss what multiplayer modes other than campaign co-op, if any, are planned for the game.)

Si dice sia un filmato con il motore grafico del gioco in real time.
Ovviamente finirà per essere una bufala e la grafica sarà una roba inguardabile.

Sebbene che oh, il cryengine 3 è un ottimo motore grafico e parecchio ottimizzato su pc da diversi anni. Dovrebbe venire fuori qualcosa di buono comunque.

Sono uscite moltissime preview un pò da tutte le testate. Il gioco sembra aver preso una piega open world (ormai se non ci sono queste due parole non sei figo).
Parlano di un prodotto apparentemente interessante per quel che si è visto e di una grafica altalenante per tecnica e stabilità del framerate. Versione provata: xbox one, che è l'unica a cui i giornalisti hanno avuto accesso.

Brutte notizie arrivano. Sembra che lo studio che si occupa di questo gioco, dopo quasi 6 mesi senza pagamenti degli stipendi, sia entrato in sciopero e il grosso del lavoro sul gioco è in fase di standby forzato dagli sviluppatori stessi. Vedremo come va a finire. A me sinceramente il progetto interessa, ma ammetto che quando lo sviluppo diventa così travagliato, di solito non porta a molto di buono.
