Draft 2015: Towns, Okafor e gli altri

Ce lo vedete Orlando a draftare Mudiay, un'altra point guard? Payton e Oladipo sembrano sulla buona strada per diventare all-star.
E' ormai chiaro che bisogna draftare sempre il best player available, ma se ci sono sconvolgimenti nell'ordine delle prime chiamate può darsi che qualcuno provi a tradare la propria pick per pick più basse e qualche asset visto che sembra un draft molto profondo.

draftexpress inverte Russell (4) e Okafor (2) ma ha sempre Porzingis alla 3. A quanto pare Philadelphia ha dato l'impressione di essere fortemente interessata.
Mettono Cauley-Stein alla 5 che mi sembra un po' una cazzata però. Non è di certo il BPA alla 5 e Orlando non ha eccessivo bisogno di un centro visto che puntano molto su Vucevic (anche se un centro più difensivo farebbe comodo). Winslow avrebbe più senso per Orlando, con Tobias Harris che è RFA e potrebbe ricevere offerte troppo alte per essere pareggiate sarebbe una buona assicurazione in quel ruolo.
Invece vedo un po' sopravvalutato Hezonja... certo di skill ne ha, ma draftare un europeo nella top 10 è sempre molto rischioso secondo me.

Curious about the draft plans of the teams with the second, third and fourth picks -- the Lakers, Sixers and Knicks? There are a lot of rumors out there, but I think I've made sense of them. Here's a quick summary:
Latvian big man Kristaps Porzingis is in play for for the Sixers with the third pick, and is giving the Lakers something to ponder with the second pick, and he's also in the mixfor the Knicks, who would be doing backflips in their war room if they got D'Angelo Russell, which they probably won't because he's the guy Philadelphia is targeting, and he may also have a promise that the Lakers will draft him, though if the Lakers go with a guard, they're still considering Emmanuel Mudiay, who has some voices high on himin the Knicks' front office, and is also liked by the Sixers, who wouldn't let Jahlil Okafor drop if he was available to them, unless they do, in which case the Knicks may look elsewhere because they are big Justise Winslow fans, and are looking strongly at Willie Cauley-Stein, and are enamored with Trey Lyles, although the consensus is they are actively trying to trade their fourth pick, but the consensus is they ultimately won't, but if they do they could trade down for Frank Kaminsky, but anyway the Sixers won't get a chance at Okafor because the Lakers are locked in on him.

Si tratta di un altro australiano. E' singolare che l'Australia sia una nazione con solo 22 milioni di abitanti, in cui il basket non è tra gli sport più seguiti e praticati, ma hanno dato origine a una gran quantità di giocatori di alto livello.
Sono quarti dietro a Canada (e vabbé), Francia e Serbia tra le nazioni che hanno prodotto più giocatori stranieri per l'NBA.

Interessante... in generale ne esce che Towns è ormai sicuro della prima chiamata e nel complesso è un prospetto migliore di Okafor che ha problemi difensivi non trascurabili.
D'Angelo Russel diventerà sicuramente un buon giocatore, bisogna solo vedere se sarà una superstar come Harden e Curry o solo un buonissimo giocatore come Conley e Lillard.

Mudiay rischia di scendere parecchio e secondo me chi lo prende fa una steal. Vedo Westbrook (o alla peggio Bledsoe) in lui

Cauley-Stein's Foot Giving Lottery Teams Pauseby: Jonathan Givony - PresidentJune 22, 2015Uncertainty surrounding Kentucky'sWillie Cauley-Stein's foot could impact his standing in Thursday night's NBA Draft, league executives tell DraftExpress.

Cauley-Stein suffered a stress fracture in his ankle on March 28th of 2014 in Kentucky's NCAA Tournament victory over Louisville, and had a pin inserted via surgery to repair what Cauley-Steindescribed thenas a “cracked bone or a stress fracture." The injury may have occurred in Kentucky's opening game against Kansas State, until he finally heard a “pop” in his words against Louisville two games later.

Cauley-Stein ultimately elected to return for his junior season, a decision deemed as surprising at the time, but which was clearly influenced by the injury. “I was thinking about going (pro) the whole time, until I got injured,” Cauley-Steinlater said.

Five separate NBA teams we spoke with all indicated varying degrees of concern after consulting with their team doctors this week, with some saying it may cost the Kentucky big man a few spots on draft night. “There is some maintenance that needs to be done there, as it's not completely clear whether the injury healed in a proper way. The pin that was inserted is supposed to be sitting at a 90 degree angle, but instead it's at 45 degrees. That, plus some question marks about his background that came up could cause him to drop a few slots.”

Even beyond any injury concerns, a more pressing issue that Cauley-Stein is dealing with is the apparent lack of need for a player with his skill-set in the 7-10 range, should he fall past Orlando or Sacramento at 5 or 6. Teams like Denver, Detroit, Charlotte and Miami are all fairly well stocked at the power forward and center positions, and could elect to go with guard or wing players. All of those teams are very active at the moment in trade discussions, according to sources, and could very well be targeted by franchises with a need for a player in Cauley-Stein's mold, such as Oklahoma City for example.

We reached out to Cauley-Stein's agent, Rich Kleiman of Roc Nation Sports, who did not appear to be overly concerned. “Willie is not stressing about where he goes in this draft, and teams that have done their research know that there is nothing to be concerned about. Martin O'Malley, a renowned ankle and foot specialist in New York, checked his foot out last week and said he's completely fine. Doctor O'Malley is used by almost every team in the NBA, including working with our clientKevin Durant. The fracture has healed and is asymptomatic. Teams who are overly cautious may want to look into an offseason cleanup if we agreed to it, but currently Willie is 100% pain free and not limited in any way. Any team that really looks at this will have no reason for concern. Teams rely on their doctors, and we rely on ours. I told them they can call Doctor O'Malley and many have already.”

Cauley-Stein is currently slated to be picked 11th inour latest mock draft.
