    Just a little teaser for the next release of DungeonDoom (dungeondoom.d3files.com). I added a new character class based on controls I used in the Doomfighter mod. There is still a lot to do, but the monk starts to get fun to play.

    This is a revision of the Monk class I presented earlier. The Ninja features:

    -dynamic camera system switching from follow to overhead depending on camera visibility.

    -various swords.

    -keyboard only controls

    -combos for quick offensive or evasive moves. Some combos also trigger simple projectiles or powerups.

    In parole povere Hellborg(lo sviluppatorre del mod) ha dato il via al betatesting interno della versione 8 per Windows di Dungeon DooM che ha come novità principale il nuovo personaggio Ninja, e parla anche delle maggiori modifiche della giocabilità e delle aggiunte di armi, infatti ci saranno varie spade tra cui scegliere,una nuova telecamera dietro le spalle del protagonista ma dinamica (quindi suppongo che potremos cegliere fra varie inquadrature),saranno introdotte diverse combo( a la Severance) d'attacco e movimenti evasivi adatti alla difesa, alcune combo attiveranno potenziamenti. Infine ci sarà un nuovo sistema di controllo a detta sua "esclusivamente via tastiera"(penso che essendo in terza persona non si possa escludere anche un comando via gamepad).

    La nuova versione aggiunge il Ninja, unico personaggio giocabile in terza persona del mod, aggiugne nuovi nemici, come lo scheletro con la spada e il combattente virtuale, nuovi dettagli per i Dungeon ed altre cose.

    Ricordatevi che è un mod di ruolo, quindi troverete un negozio per acquistare equipaggiamento, e il tempo passa, da giorno a notte, per chi non è pratico dei meccanismi dei giochi di ruolo consiglio la classe figthter, più semlice da utilizzare rispetto a quelle dove ci sono gli incantesimi oppure in Ninja, e non dimenticatevi di comprare una lanterna, i Dungeon ovviamente saranno male illuminati

    peccato che a me faccia errore, una volta caricato il mod mi dà errore, "l'applicazione verrà chiusa"

    eppure nella versione pubblica di betatesting questa cosa non accadeva giocavo tranquillamente, devo farmi un giro dalle parti dello sviluppatore, ti farò sapere appena possibile non temere

    Last month's issue of Computer Gaming World has included a review of DungeonDOOM XP 7; thanks to FindArticles, it can also be read online. The reviewer describes it a creative mod but lacking in balance and variety. According to Hellborg, some of the issues raised in the review have been fixed in the new version.



    Fixing for more Doom 3? DungeonDoom may be your poison if you’re up for Diablo without the melodrama, arty gothic levels, or Blizzardy finesse. Cobble together a random level/creature generator, four RPG professions, gun-humping carnage insanity, and presto—out pops this humble 50MB Doom 3 mod. Whether it’s clever enough to trip your download trigger is another question.

    DungeonDOOM XP for Linux (8.0.1)


    Description:

    DungeonDoom is a Doom3 modification for Windows and Linux operating systems. DungeonDoom incorporates most key features of roguelike games. In particular, levels are largely composed of mazes, which are generated with a pseudo-random number generator. Levels have stairs leading either to higher or lower levels of the dungeon.

    The lower the player descends into the dungeon, the stronger the enemies get. Killed enemies drop gold which then can be used by the player in shops to buy weapons and ammo . Much of this functionality is not part of the original Doom3 engine and has been added to DungeonDoom. The modification is highly extensible and the current 8.0 build of DungeonDoom includes an overworld, a storyline, random quests, special level bosses with special abilities, a magic system, an equipment system, a character developement system, a player ability system and various playable characters, including a collectible card variant using the 'card master' and a sword-wielding combo performing ninja.

    You start your quest in the wilderness in front of the gates of the city of Asiris. A dark path leads to a mystical pyramid, south of the gates of Asiris. Below this pyramid, you will find a deep, extensive dungeon, which houses numerous tough enemies...

    Description:

    This is a small bugfix release that fixes some problems associated with the Cardmaster Class.

    To install this patch, copy the content of this archive into your DungeonDoom directory.

    Reminder: Resurrection of Evil is needed to play this mod as well as DungeonDOOM XP 8.0.1 for Windows or Linux.

    The following issues have been addressed:

    - Fixed a bug that made the deckbuilder screen unreachable after pressing the TAB key to exit transition screens.
    - Fixed a bug that depleted the deck contents when the hand was full.
    - Added a key (press 'G' to activate this feature) to drop a random card, if cardmaster hand is full.

    DungeonDOOM - Interview


    ModDB has caught up with Hellborg to talk at great lengths about DungeonDOOM, its background and purpose as well as its upcoming developments. If you ever looked askance at this mod because of its somewhat disturbing RPG nature (at least from the perspective of a FPS player), then go read this interview! It will probably fill some gaps you had (or not) about it. There is one question that I would have liked to see answered tho': why choosing Resurrection of Evil in lieu of DOOM 3 to build it up?


    Koroshiya_Ichi: An interesting feature mentioned in the mods overview, is the use of randomly generated maps. How exactly do these work?


    Hellborg: In classic Rogue-likes, the mazes were always different every time you re-entered them. I really disliked this "feature" because it just does not make sense. In Diablo, the mazes were generated randomly once at the start of a new game, but were constant afterwards, so you could start to memorize their layout for future walks. I took the same approach in DungeonDoom. From a technical point of view, these are just generated by a modified recursive maze generation algorithm. Then, torches are not added everywhere giving further variability in appearance. Finally, podests are raised or removed and the ceiling height is adjusted to add further complexity. In the newest version 8XP, an additional randomly generated wilderness is included. Here you find tree-like foliage generated by randomly placed and rotated branches. The wilderness is also effectively endless (it is basically procedurally generated). Still, if you come back to the same "tree" during one game play round, it will always look exactly the same.

    Koroshiya_Ichi: While it's clear that you've gone through a lot of work on the scripting, many of the enemies and general characters in Dungeon Doom are the same as those available in Doom 3. Are there any plans to create new monsters?


    Hellborg: In the first versions of DungeonDoom I added typical Rogue-like special monster behaviors, such as teleporting, blinding, paralysis etc. I thought that it would be more useful to add something that is game play relevant instead of including a new monster mesh that is controlled by a recycled AI script and known behaviors. In version 7XP I started to add simple monsters by using a particle effect as the model. I then would reuse part of an AI script, add some tweaks and generate a new type of monster with a distinct look and feel. I think that there are about three of these in DungeonDoom. For 8XP, I also recycled a skeleton model which usually does not appear as a full featured monster in Doom 3. I also made a new - very simple mesh based monster from scratch, the gelatinous cube, which has only one animation. I recently saw a number of monsters popping up in the Doom 3 scene, so it appears that finally a significant amount of people get together their skills to make new animated monsters. I will include anything for which I get the permission and tweak it's abilities to make it unique in DungeonDoom.

    DungeonDoom 8.1 in final testing. Versions for both vanilla Doom3 and ROE


    The next version of DungeonDoom 8.1 is awaiting final beta test results.The good news for anybody who does not own the expansion pack Resurrection of Evil: This new version is also available for vanilla Doom3! There will be a second version which will also incorporate all the additional features of the expansion pack, but the base version already includes most of the features - except for some magic abilities and the resurrection of evil exclusive monsters.



    The new version will introduce multiple alternative gameplay modes:

    1) Adventure: standard, story driven gameplay.

    2) Challenge: A quick jump into the dungeon at one of five starting points - master four increasingly tough levels to beat the challenge.

    3) Arena: a constant stream of spawning enemies is attacking you in the arena.


    You also encounter a new monster, the iron maiden, which comes in several (Iron, Silver and Gold) flavors. If you face the Iron Maiden "head on" for too long, you get mesmerized - you lower your weapon and you get fixed to stare at the Iron Maiden (usually until you die...). Additionally, the larch and insane guy monsters by comblood and jasonwel were included.

    The overworld got some minor improvements and now features a less flat surface. It is still generated randomly at runtime and thus practically "endless".

    And of course, all the goodies from the previous versions (rpg elements, randomly generated dungeons, a playable ninja character, rogue-like gameplay elements etc.) are still in!
