As a way of combating the repetitive nature of maps and adding a little bit of spice to the game, Team Fortress 2 will feature dynamic maps. [...] Just think of it as different paths through a map opening and closing between rounds. In one round, a certain passage will be blocked, and in another, it'll be open.

lunga intervista su IGN con interessanti informazioni sul gameplay
    http://pc.ign.com/articles/779/779677p1.html

    un passaggio particolarmente interessante
How far along are the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions?
(Robin Walker) So the Xbox one, we have people in on Xboxes, while you were playing [referring to IGN] there's people playing on Xbox 360s.

In that play session we just did?
(Doug Lombardi) Yeah there's always at least one guy, in there, that's an Xbox 360 guy.

So you're actually playing now on Xbox 360s connected to PCs?
    (Doug Lombardi) Technically it's done.
(Robin Walker) From our perspective, we did the Xbox port of Half-Life internally, and we did that because we wanted to have the expertise from doing that. Like controller expertise and all the sorts of decisions you've got to make that are different on consoles we wanted to have that in-house because we knew we'd be doing more Xbox titles and more console titles. And so the same guys that did that are working on TF2, we have all the tweaks we did to the controls, the sticks and everything. One of the advantages of TF2, relative to something like Counter-Strike, is that it's not so much about aim.

    What about the PS3 version?
(Doug Lombardi) The PS3 version is being done by EA over in the UK, and they don't have all the networking stuff in yet to do anything other than [pause] it's rending and running the games and whatnot, but they're still dropping in the network layers. They're going to be using a piece of code that EA uses for its PS3 multiplayer stuff. Chances are the PS3 version will only play other PS3s. There's zero chance of them talking to 360s.

Is each version roughly at the same stage of completion?
(Doug Lombardi) No, everything starts on the PC and then migrates over. Because the Xbox 360 stuff is being built internally here the loop on that is like hours or days, and the PS3 stuff, naturally, because it's going over to the UK with a different team lags by a week or two. But they're not months apart.

    e poi la perla:
So everything is still set for release in September?
We're looking at the back-to-school timeframe.

    Back-to-school timeframe?
    Right in September. Ish.

    Ish?
We don't have a solid date yet.
    Lombardi, gotta love him®

Using his disguise kit, the Spy can assume the identity of the opponent and will even have a mock user name to help fool the other side. The trick, however, is in learning how to assume the role properly. If you are pretending to be a Sniper, you'll want to find a perch and wait. Let the opponent be fooled into thinking you are actually a Sniper. Then, when no their backs are turned, pull out your knife and take them out.
The Spy's ultimate rouse is to fool an opposing Medic into healing him. Though you don't earn the powers or weapons of a class you're pretending to play, an opponents' medi-gun will still heal the Spy. You can even be turned invulnerable by the Medic. So if you play your role properly, you can trick a Medic into turning you invulnerable, then drop the disguise and gut everyone. When pulled off, it's a phenomenal sight.
It should be noted that your disguised Spy will appear, in every way, to be working for the opponent. As a Spy, any shots fired will look like shots from your assumed role. And if you hit a friend, though you won't actually do damage, it will appear to the enemy that you have. You don't have to worry about fooling your real friends, though. To your allies, the Spy looks like his regular self, but with a cardboard cut-out mask of his disguised role. And all the while he continues to smoke his thing cigarette. Brilliant.

To encourage players to continually improve their skills at playing the various classes, they are presented at the end of each round with a drilldown of their top scores in a variety of categories, with a note indicating with which class the achievement was reached. Obvious stats such as kills, deaths, assists, flag captures, successful defenses, headshots, and total damage points dealt are tracked, as are more TF2-specific ones such as total health points healed as Medic, number of "invulns" used, kills by sentry gun, number of times teammates used your Engineer-built teleporter, Spy backstabs, and so on.
In a welcome addition, the game also tracks revenge kills. An enemy player who kills you particularly often will be branded your nemesis, and you will receive extra points for returning the favor. Though by no means unique to Team Fortress 2, the mechanic suits the game and its total-destruction-meets-espionage aesthetic quite well.

Of special note is the Taunt button, which allows you to mock your opponent at anytime. The camera will switch from a first-person view that allows you to see your character full-on, at which point he will launch into a brief and hilarious animation designed to allow you to rub your foes’ incompetence in their face. The characters have a unique one for each of their three weapons, and all of the ones we saw made us laugh out loud. Seeing the hulking Heavy Weapons Guy kiss and caress Sasha (his uber-powerful minigun) after blowing away an enemy was one of the highlights of my visit.

At the end of every match, a leaderboard will appear that will break down the time you spent playing as each class (you can switch between them freely after each death or commit suicide on the battlefield to switch instantly). You’ll also be given a point total for each class, and we were happy to learn that the will be a ton of elements taken into account when tallying your score. Basically, you’ll earn points for doing what’s expected from you. As an example, I was told that a medic will earn many more points for healing his teammates than he would for getting a kill. You’ll also have personal “one life” bests for each class, such as how many kills you can get before dying or number of objectives completed.
