"Jason Newsted, ex-bassista dei Metallica ora in forza nei Voivod, si è dichiarato "assolutamente disponibile" per un'eventuale reunion con i Flotsam and Jetsam, la thrash band nella quale militava prima dell'ingresso nei Metallica. "

Ecco la sua dichiarazione, rilasciata in un'intervista a Foundry Music:

"I saw [the FLOTSAM AND JETSAM guys] at Christmas time and I still feel like a good friend to all those guys. And I think they would say the same about me . . . We had drinks hung out and listened to the new VOIVOD record, you know. So that was the whole thing. I went to Phoenix. Everybody still has their hair and everybody's still in shape so my answer [to the possibility of a reunion] is yes. I think someday absolutely do that kind of thing and I think they'd be jumping out of their skin to be able experience something like that. It would have to take my commitment. Can't just snap your fingers and we're in the same town with equipment and a road crew. It takes some time, takes money and some logistics. These people have families and that kind of shit. It's easily said and sounds fun. Putting it together would take something. You would never say never on something like that because it could be fucking great. We'd just play the stuff we wrote together. It would have to be the original shit. If you want a reunion tour play these songs and the older. It could be fucked up! Just long enough, fifteen songs together pull out the old ones and play a few MAIDEN songs and fuck everybody up! TANK songs."


Ragazzi i fatti sono 2 o Jason per tornare ai guadagni folli dei Metallica si fa un culo tanto, o non ha una casda dove stare..mah..

Secondo me cerca di far vedere che è bravo anche al di fuori dei Metallica (effettivamente è un ottimo bassista), ma mi sa che sta facendo un pò troppo lo sborone

Io credo invece che stia semplicemnete valutando in quale band gli piacerebbe suonare, come fanno tutti i bravi bassisti disoccupati. Caso vuole che molte band vogliono james, e caso vuole che queste band siano famose, di conseguenza pè impensabile che jason gestisca il tutto cercando di tenere segreti gli intrallazzi, ci sarà sempre qualcuno che lo va a dire in giro.
In più, data la gentilezza estrema di jason, non credo gli sia facile mandare a cagare i giornalisti anche se lo subissano di domande sul suo futuro.
Credo che queta marea di notizie su di lui che ha caratterizzato gli ultimi mesi sia dovuta più che altro ai giornalisti che non hanno proprio più nessuno a cui rompere le balle

METALLICA NAMED mtvICON FOR 2003

MTV's annual music tribute event, mtvICON, will spotlight the 20-year career of Metallica. The inaugural mtvICON paid tribute to Janet Jackson in 2001, followed by honorees Aerosmith in 2002. James, Lars, and Kirk were there in 2002 to show their appreciation of the group and to give testimonials on what Aerosmith has meant to them as a band and as people.
mtvICON: Metallica will tape before a live audience in Los Angeles on May 3rd, and will premiere on MTV on May 6th from 9:00-10:30pm ET/PT. The special program will feature performances and testimonials from artists and celebrities who have been influenced by the band, their music, and their videos. For the finale, Metallica will take the stage for a show-stopping set, marking the band's debut television performance with their new bass player Rob Trujillo. A full list of talent will be announced shortly.

Forse non ho capito bene: i Metallica adesso passano per icone di mtv??? Se penso quanto ho insultato gli aerosmith per la stessa cosa...
ah, povero me e la mia nostalgia...
A questo punto l'album dovrà proprio essere un capolavoro metal, altrimenti fanno la figura della feccia

Gli Aerosmith sono sempre stati legati più a doppio filo con i media!! Insomma, MTV è nata con i gruppi hard rock (e poi si è multinazionalizzata)!!
I Metallica invece erano proprio la "controcorrente" in questo senso!! Il primo video "One" è arrivato con il quarto disco!!
L' hanno scorso è stato umiliante vedere gli Aerosmith ricevere tributi da sciacquette della musica commerciale come Pink!!
Ho proprio paura che il massimo che vedremo alla serata in onore dei MetallicA saranno i Linkin Park (senza offesa per i Linkin Park), altro che Mustaine!!

Discussed was the new album and mentioned was some details in to what they are currently doing. The band are about 3 and a half weeks away from finishing the recording, artwork for the album and lyrics to the songs are complete and producer Bob Rock has already started mixing some of the songs.

On the forthcoming METALLICA album, "St. Anger":

"I don't like the word 'going back', because I don't like it to get nostalgic. I think we still have enough vitality and relevance… It's not about going back, it's about moving forward, but we're moving forward with a lot of elements of earlier stuff with us. It's almost like… We've done a lot of, what I call 'musical exploration' in the last few years, and I think that by continuing to find something to kind of be excited about, that path took us almost, like, in a circle. So now we're sort of having a lot of fun with playing some really, really fast stuff again. And when I say 'fast,' I mean, like, fast fast. And really aggressive, aggro, a lot of the old starts and stops, and the serious, dynamic changes, and a lot of songs north of seven, eight minutes. So it's not about 'Hey, we're going back, dude,' but it's more about, like… My analogy, which I'm actually getting sick of hearing myself say, is that… It's sort of like that old pair of shoes over in the closet that you haven't worn for a couple of years, but you put those shoes on again, and they just feel really damn good to have on again, and you kind of, when you put them back on, you sort of say, 'Why didn't I put them on earlier?' But you realize that you have to wear all those other pairs of shoes in order to feel comfortable in that pair of shoes again. Playing, like, super-fast is sort of like… We've done 'Battery', we've done 'Damage [Inc.]', we've done 'Blackened'… Maybe there isn't anything else to offer… But 10 years later, it sure seems like there's a lot more to offer in that direction. And basically, the new album is about 70 minutes of that. [laughs] It's not like there's three or four songs and then a couple of ballads. It's basically around 11… somewhere between 10 and 12 songs of just complete aggro, out-of-control earspank, as we call it."

Per la nuova puntata della serie “ Wild, Sbat yourself ! ”

Lars:

--Non mi piace la parola “ritorno al passato”, perchè non piace fare il nostalgico. Sono convitno che abbiamo ancora abbastanza vitalità e rilevanza (nel mondo della musica ndWild)...non si parla di “ritorno al passato”, ma di un “andare avanti”, soltanto stiamo andando avanti insieme a molti degli elementi dei nostri primi album (STRASBAV! ndWild).
E’ quasi come....beh, noi abbiamo fatto molta di quella che io chiamo “esplorazione musicale”,negli ultimi anni, e credo che continuare a cercare quel qualcosa in grado di eccitarci, seguire quella strada, ci abbia come portato all’interno di un cerchio.
Perciò adesso è come se ci stessimo divertendo suonando cose molto, molto veloci, come ai vecchi tempi. E quando dico “veloci” intendo dire “davvero veloci”. E davvero energiche: aggro (non so che sia, forse una figura ritmica in gergo musicale ndWild), molti dei vecchi stop&go (come l’inizio di Master of puppets per intenderci ndWild), e i seri, dinamici cambi (di tempo, ndWild), e molte canzoni arrivano a sette, otto, minuti (ahhh, come ai bei tempi ndWild).
Quindi non è un “Hey amico, guarda che torniamo a suonare robba pesante!”, ma è più come...la mia analogia, che infastidisce anche me nel dirla, è che...è qualcosa come quel vecchio paio di scarpe buttate nel ripostiglio che non ti metti da un paio d'’anni, ma te le rimetti ora e scopri che ti calzano ancora benissimo, e quando te le senti di nuovo addosso ti vien da dire “Perchè non me le sono rimesse prima?”, ma poi capisci che dovevi provare tutte quelle altre paia di scarpe per sentirti di nuovo a tuo agio in quel paio di scarpe.
Suonare così, superveloce, è come ....abbiamo fatto Battery, abbiamo fatto Damage Inc., abbiamo fatto Blackened, forse non c’era più niente da offrire... ma dieci anni più tardi sembra davvero che ci sia ancora tanto da offrire in questo senso.
E fondamentalmente il nuovo album è un 70 minuti di tutto ciò (ride).
Non è che ci siano 3 o 4 canzoni e un paio di ballate. Fondamentalmente stiamo parlando di 11...qualcosa tra le dieci e dodici canzoni di totale aggro, di musica spaccatimpani fuori controllo, come la chiamiamo noi .--

NB: earspank è praticamente intraducibile, so che “spaccatimpani” suona dispregiativo, ma sculacciaorecchi era proprio brutto..ndWild
