1360x768 e' proprio una buffa risoluzione eh!
La cosa migliore che puoi fare e' aspettare Gutsy (non manca molto), oppure upgradare X da feisty e usare il nuovo Xorg 1.3 con Xrandr 1.2, che ti permette di cambiare risoluzione al volo.
Altrimenti procurati frequenze orizzontali e verticali del monitor, lancia dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg e fai la configurazione avanzata del monitor.

buffa... è quella del tv LCD... mi serve z vedere i film.... ho paura che a smanacciare con le frequenze possa rovinare tutto...

E ma se vai sul sito del produttore del monitor sulla pagina relativa al monitor e leggi lì le due frequenze dove sta il pericolo? :)

in ogni caso la responsabilità è tua e solo tua
però non vedo come si potrebbe "rovinare", se il costruttore non è pazzo è praticamente impossibile che si bruci, per due (o tre) motivi:
- che io sappia tutti i monitor (non tv, ma ormai siamo nel 2007) da circa 15 anni hanno una protezione sulle frequenze sbagliate
- se usi un collegamento analogico l'lcd non ha una "frequenza" di aggiornamento vera e propria, in ogni caso quindi in mezzo c'è una traduzione del segnale; il rischio è che la traduzione non venga fatta bene; al più perdi frame o ti trovi momentaneamente l'immagine mostrata ridotta ad un quadro di missoni.
- se usi una connessione digitale, non credo proprio che sia tecnicamente possibile trasferire una vera "frequenza di aggiornamento"
io fossi in te me la giocherei senza problemi. l'importante è che non ti fai prendere dal panico, e ricorda che per balzare in console ammazzando x basta fare control-alt-backspace.

ha fatto quello che volevo io... almeno mi sembra di capire visto che di francese ci mastico nulla di nulla...
Il suo tv è parecchio simile al mio. da quel che ho capito ha modificato il suo xorg così:
1) ha aggiunto la sezione monitor. da quel che ho capito di queste sezioni ne posso aggiungere svariate, a seconda del numero dei tv che ho... Qui ci ha messo tutta una serie di parametri sputati fuori da un sito...
2) ha aggiunto la sezione screen. così come nell'esempio... Io come monitor di default voglio usare questo (è un notebook) e solo saltuariamente collegarmi col cavo vga al tv. qui non so come fare... ho provato ad aggiungere una sezione screen ma nulla... X si impasta.
Qualcuno ci ha capito qualcosa più di me?
