2 cosette e ho finito...
Ho quasi finito di configurare il mio VAIO FE41S con Debian...
mi mancano solo 2 cosette eppoi funziona tutto...

con i driver ALSA funziona correttamente... ma le cuffie non funzionano, e la cosa mi torna scomoda visto che studio spesso in biblioteca e vorrei ascoltare 1 po' di musica mentre lo faccio...

ho provato a fare come dice mettendo model=vaio (l'ultimo dell'output che mi da l'ALSAconfiguration.txt) ma non cambia nulla...
qualcuno ha qualche idea??
e poi ci sarebbe la uebcam, una stuzzicheria piuttosto che una vera e propria necessità... ma volendo scrivere una guida completa sulla configurazione di un vaio Fe mi servirebbe anche questa...
che dire?? installato gspca-source gspca-module..... modprobe gspca e va correttamente... ma poi non vedo webcam da nessuna parte... kopete non la riconosce...
ammetto di non aver cercato molto... ma fra esami e tutto...
in complesso il resto va.... il modem è 1 sogno... ma chi lo usa più...
devo dire che fra tutte le macchine su cui ho messo linux i Sony sono i peggiori...

Per la webcam: controlla che venga creato il device /dev/video o qualcosa del genere e i suoi permessi. Alternativamente, avvia kopete da root e vedi se funziona: se si, e' semplicemente un problema di permessi da modificare nelle regole di udev.
Per la scheda audio: prova a muzzo un po' di modelli diversi, la soluzione proposta nella ML sembra sensata ;)

manca proprio il volume dei jack dal mixer...
ho provato a --purgare e reinstallare ALSA-base e co. e a digitare su suggerimento
modprobe snd_hda_intel model=base
oppure
modprobe snd_hda_intel model=vaio
il comando lo prende (ovviamente) ma non cambia 'na sonora ceppazza :sad:
per la uebcam il driver era questo e non gspca.... ora funzia tutto...
ma il problema dell'audio che è il più importante resta... :muroblu:

Alura, ho letto il thread e pare che quelli di uBBuntu abbiano incluso la patch suddetta nel loro kernel. E' un thread di un anno fa, mi pare strano che la patch non sia stata inclusa anche nel kernel Debian, se non in quello di linus. Fai una cosa: scaricati il kernel di uBBuntu e installatelo e vedi se funziona. Se si, allora pensiamo ad applicare la patch e ricompilare. Se ancora non va, vediamo.

scusa la niubbaggine... ma visto che tu stesso odi compilare...
e che debian usa a sua volta apt...
non si potrebbero inserire i repository di ubuntu e installare il kernel comodamente da apt-get?
o il kernel ubuntu in questo modo non si integrerebbe bene senza ricompilazione e magari si tirerebbe dietro troppa fuffa?

Non mi sono spiegato: se il kernel *pacchettizzato* di Ubuntu funziona, allora quella patch non e' presente in debian e bisogna includerla. Se nemmeno il kernel Ubuntu va, allora il problema e' da un'altra parte.
E' vero che odio compilare, ma se bisogna ricompilare i moduli alsa, si fa Debian Way, con make-kpkg ;)

non ho capito cosa dovrei fare... prendo il kernel e lo compilo (datemi 1 po' di tempo x imparare a farlo visto che è la prima volta)?? o scarico con apt-get quello di ubuntu??
se è la seconda... da dove lo acchiappo il kernel di ubuntu?? da apt-get? come?? cambio i mirror o altro??

la mia ipotesi era appunto l'ultima cosa che hai scritto... ma da quel che ha scritto jack (kudos per l'avatar :D altro che la pelata di zizou)... pare che per i tuoi problemi con l'audio (mai avuti io :toccatina: ) sia meglio evitare il coso pacchettizzato e compilarselo...
e pare appunto che su debian si usi make-kpkg (mai neanche sentito O_O):

Prima di ricompilare vediamo bene se hai fatto tutto
Fammi un bel
$lsmod | grep snd
Sicuramente devi modificare il modulo
snd-hda-intel
model=vaio
A meno tu non abbia chipset vaio non serve a nulla
Fai
$sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/options
options snd-hda-intel -------->questo è il tuo modulo del suono
Mettici dentro

Probabilmete la tua scheda madre ha un chipset per il suono non ich7,
un qualche chipset strano lo gestisce

ma ho problemi con il boot
mi va in kernel panic perchè non trova /
suppongo che i drivers non siano ancora maturi...
domani provo coll'initrd anche se le guide lo sconsigliano....

dunque...
il metodo da te postato non funziona... ho provato e non cambia nulla...
provato anche levando --purge tutti gli alsa (base, lib e utils) e reinstallandoli da 0 in modo da togliere tutti i pasticci vari...
se provo a compilare il kernel (2.6.21, il + recente disponibile con apt-get) con l'initrd mi si pianta al boot non più con un kernel panic... mi scrive waiting for root filesystem...
e resta lì...
ho compilato correttamente i ramdisk... ora...
ho come controller l'ICH7 s-ata.... probabilmente non funzia qualcosa lì...
essendo neofita nella compilazione dei kernel non so come compilarlo correttamente...
