Silvio Berlusconi is almost a caricature of an Italian lothario

You will no doubt realise from my surname my Italian heritage. Even though my father migrated from Abruzzi to Australia in 1960 and I was born in 1968 it is not uncommon in Australia to be asked where are you from.
The interest in Italian politics from Australia is two-fold: first of all Silvio Berlusconi is almost a caricature of an Italian lothario. His cultivated hair, manufactured tan, his used car salesman smile and his adventurous personal life are all fodder for the world press. The fact Berlusconi introduced the world to bunga bunga and can be still be a political force in Italy is uniquely Italian.
Australia is country that demands stability and austere uniformed views from our politicians. This attitude is so far removed from what we see of Italian politicians that it makes me question whether the party political line of Australia stifles advancement and simply propagates the status quo.
I could go on but the purpose of this email was to simply say I enjoyed your interview on Lateline this evening and look forward to hearing more of your views in the future.
