Saranno i brasiliani ANGRA il primo special guest delle date italiane dei DREAM THEATER. Si tratta veramente di un'accoppiata d'eccezione che sarà affiancata da un'opening act che verrà annuniciato a breve. Ricordiamo le date:

Dream Theater have completed work on their 8th full length studio album entitled "OCTAVARIUM" which is tentatively set for release through Atlantic Records on June 7th, 2005.

OPETH IN STUDIO
Opeth will be entering Fashination street studios on March 15 to record their 8th yet untitled opus. The band are currently in rehearsal mode, which is a rare occasion having recorded the last 4 records without rehearsing. The recording will be overseen by the uprising recording mogul Jens Bogren. As of today no names for production duties have surfaced and it looks like the next record will be a band produced effort. Nothing has been decided regarding who's taking care of the mix either so we'll have to keep you wondering.

Ricordo che anche i Symphony X stanno preparando il nuovo album..
sarà un cd più cupo di The Odyssey

Posticipata l'uscita del DVD di BE

Dal sito della InsideOut apprendiamo che 'BE' DVD uscirà il 18 Aprile. La confezione conterrà anche un CD con l'audio del concerto, oltre ad un booklet illustrato di 48 pagine!

Stiamo ovviamente parlando dei Pain of Salvation..

Il videoclip di "Simple Human" targato Fates Warning è online su Yahoo! Music. Il video è stato girato lo scorso 23 gennaio sotto le direttive del regista Jerry Clubb della MentalSuplex Productions. Clubb aveva lavorato già in precedenza coi Six Feet Under per il loro video "Dead and Buried".

Qualche news sugli Opeth

La band ha annunciato che Per Wirberg si è unito alla band come membro permantente in quanto fino ad oggi reclutato semplicemente come session keyboarder per i concerti.
Inoltre è stato riferito che sono già stati registrati 9 brani del nuovo album con la supervisione di Jens Bogren.

We can now officially announce that Opeth has signed a worldwide contract with Roadrunner records. The rumours were true! The new album is set to be released sometime in the late August or early September of 2005.

Opeth has cancelled their Vienna/Austria Aerodromme festival appearance (May 27) due to the recording taking longer time than expected. We are very sorry for the fans who expected to see Opeth there, but we hope to return to Austria as soon as humanly possible!

The recording process is going well. One song is mixed and done, another one in the process of being mixed. Solos are being recorded as well as death screams. Some songtitles? "Ghost of perdition", "The baying of the hounds", "Isolation years" and "Harlequin forest" The record plan to be done by June 1.

E ora qualche aggiornamento sul nuovo album dei Symphony X..

STUDIO UPDATE
MJR has written almost 2 hours worth of music, & is now taking the time to find the right song title and lyrical content for each song. Each song has a certain feel to it, so it's important to make sure the lyrics reflect that feel. The 'darker' tone that they're aiming for which has been mentioned in previous studio reports will apply more to the orchestration and the lyrical content than the vocals, for those who continue to muse over the likelihood of Russell doing death metal growls. Much of that dark tone would lend itself to ghostly or horror themes (they're tossing around such ideas as Paradise Lost, and the works of Edgar Allan Poe, for example), but MJR says nothing is definite as far as lyrics go. He's also working on fine tuning the orchestration for the 'longer song', which also has a darker feel to it; that said, he wants it to be clear that it will not be 'an epic' like The Odyssey. One major aim throughout the writing process is making sure that the cd remains true to the Symphony X style, and kick things up a notch as well, without it sounding just like music they've done before; "I want to be excited about the music, so I know the fans will be excited about it" he said.

In rete ho trovato una copertina che si spacciava per essere quella di ghost reveries, era un'immagine in bianco e nero, con tratti di blur, in tipico stile opeth, raffigurante un capanno in mezzo a una foresta..decisamente più bella di questa originale..
questa a me sembra un artwork di thief 3..

Per essere più bella, è più bella, ma dobbiamo vedere se c'entra qualcosa con il disco. Secondo me il riferimento a Thief è un invito a rubare il cd.

mmm raga mi sa di no, perchè quest'album segna l'esordio in Roadrunner, dopo la fine del contratto con la Koch... infatti voci di corridoio dicevano che la scelta di fare due album invece che uno (Damnation e Deliverance) fosse legata al fatto che gli opeth volessero scrollarsi di dosso al più presto il contratto con la koch, che prevedeva tre album (Blackwater Park è infatti stato il primo dopo la parentesi in Peaceville di Still Life). ora non so se i verbi sono messi bene ma abbiate pazienza, è tardi e fa un caldo allucinante.
