DC Universe Online and Planetside 2 Heading to PlayStation 4

Sony Online Entertainment today announced that DC Universe Online and PlanetSide 2 will be heading to the much-anticipated PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system. Future PS4 gamers can look forward to experiencing the epic battles of the massively multiplayer online first person shooter PlanetSide 2, along with the super-powered world of DC Universe Online, as SOE continues to bring its 'Free to Play. Your Way.' philosophy to new audiences.

"Since the launch of the original EverQuest, we have pioneered major shifts in the development of MMOs and videogames as a whole, and now we're bringing our titles to the forefront of next-gen gaming," said John Smedley, President, Sony Online Entertainment. "Players are evolving and want a variety of ways to access and play games. Our goal is to deliver epic gaming experiences that players crave while harnessing the awesome power and technology of this incredible new platform. We are thrilled to bring two of our most popular free-to-play games to PS4."

Greetings from the PlanetSide 2 team! We’ve had a busy start to 2014 with tons of progress being made on the PS4 version of PlanetSide 2! Getting the world’s largest FPS experience to the console is no small feat, and we have an incredibly talented, hard-working team dedicated to the cause.

Each day is a flurry of playtests, reviews, brainstorming, check-ins, and more playtesting for good measure; the progress we’ve made over the last few months has been amazing to watch.

Now the team is looking forward to an exciting summer full of events and reveals, kicking off this month at E3 and MLG Anaheim (June 20th through 22nd) with the very first hands-on playable version of PlanetSide 2 on PS4! We absolutely can’t wait for you to experience the epic scale and intensity of PlanetSide 2.

One of the best things about working on a game like PlanetSide 2 is that it’s a living, evolving game that’s constantly being updated and improved upon. In addition to work being done for PS4, the team is working on a lot of content and game systems enhancements to the live game. Some of the biggest features we’re excited to deliver in the next few months are: Hossin, our fourth full 64sqkm continent, an advanced achievement system called Directives, player-driven continent conquest/locking, and expansions to our game’s Outfits systems.

The best part? These new features will be implemented on both the PC and PS4 versions of the game, and new features and content will continually be added to the game for years to come. And did I mention, all this for a free-to-play title out of the gate — no PlayStation Plus required.

PlanetSide 2 Launches on PS4 June 23rd

Hey everyone. After months of intense Beta testing, I’m excited to announce that PlanetSide 2 will be launching on PS4 June 23rd in North America!

For those of you unfamiliar with the game, you’re in for a wild ride! PlanetSide 2 is a revolutionary, massive scale, first-person shooter where soldiers battle as one in strategic, targeted missions against enemy Empires in an all-out planetary war. Massive communities with unwavering camaraderie band together in PlanetSide 2 as the game challenges the skill and grit of the most seasoned soldier through intense infantry, air, and ground vehicle gameplay. Victory requires teamwork and a quick trigger finger to survive the enormous battles.

To give you an idea of just how massive our battles really are in PlanetSide 2, we recently set a Guinness World Record for the Most Players Online in a Single FPS Battle, with 1,158 players in a single fight! The game is synonymous with large-scale warfare and it’s truly an experience you have to see to believe. Plus, as a free-to-play game, all players can jump into the game’s massive battles for free — no PlayStation Plus Membership required.


We’ve put a lot of effort into streamlining and improving the feature set so that PS4 players will have the ultimate massive-scale, FPS gaming experience. We’ve also incorporated some unique features that are currently exclusive to the PS4 version, which for example, include the new battle map, Koltyr. We will continue to further improve and enhance the gameplay experience after launch as well. In the weeks and months following the release on June 23rd, players can look forward to frequent game updates, which will include deeper features, holiday events and content, new in-game marketplace items, and much, much more.

On behalf of the PlanetSide 2 development team, we’d like to thank the tens of thousands of players that have taken part in the Closed Beta testing. Because of you, we’ve been able to make a ton of refinements to the game that otherwise wouldn’t have been possible without your valuable feedback.

E' partito alla fine, doveva scaricare un ulteriore aggiornamento di 2gb circa. Mi sono limitato ad entrare nella prima area perchè non ho tempo per provarlo ma di sicuro appena ha caricato la stanza sono partite le ventole come se fosse una turbina di aero

io ieri sono riuscito a giocare per un'oretta circa, oggi invece mi dice server non disponibile....
cmq mi sembra carino come gioco, mappe molto vaste (anche troppo se uno si ritrova a piedi) e bei combattimenti. Mi sono sembrati un pò legnosi e lenti i comandi

posti sul server ma tutte le volte il counter risale. ed ovviamente con l'abbonamento entri subito in partita
