Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires release date and PC version announced
Like the PC version, the PlayStation 3 version will be digital-only.
Dynasty Warriors 8: Empires will launch for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3 (digital-only), and PC via Steam on January 27 in North America and January 30 in Europe, Koei Tecmo announced.
The game follows the lives of Ancient Chinese warriors as their decisions affect the rise and fall of the nations they fight for. It offers 83 characters to choose from, or players can create their own original characters with a “plenitude” of customization options through the edit function. Players can also customize their horses, banners, and “normal” military officers.
In “Empire” mode, players can select from one of “many distinct roles” to experience history and its outcomes through a “different methodology of warfare.” Stories include that of Liu Bei, “a provincial ruler forced to wander the land in search of a home,” or Lu Bu, “an egotistical warrior who moves from one betrayal to another in search of his own glory.”
Players will fight against not only enemy soldiers, but against nature, as well, as the changing seasons of Ancient China, as well as the passing of time, affect the game’s more than 40 battlefields, which range from “vast plains” to “bleak wastelands,” “narrow ravines,” and “immense castles.”
