Bungie is to announce its much talked about new game next week, an industry insider has revealed.

Speaking to GAMER.tm, an industry insider has confirmed that Microsoft is due to hold an event in Europe next week, where Bungie is due to take the wraps off its next game – the first title the studio has developed since splitting from Microsoft.

Unfortunately, our source – who obtained this information directly from Microsoft – was unable to confirm what that game will be. As such, it’s unknown whether the new title will be Halo 4, or indeed whether it will be related to the Halo universe in any way, shape or form.

Our source also revealed that Rare may be set to announce a new game as well.

With Viva Pinata: TIP having just been released and Banjo Nuts ‘n’ Bolts shaping up very nicely, the British studio seems to be rediscovering some of the amazing form it showed on the SNES and N64. So its next project should be highly anticipated.

Unfortunately, our source wasn’t able to shed any light on what this project will be, but we should find out next week.

According to our source, a few other announcements are due to be made at this mysterious event, so expect plenty of fireworks when things kick off.

Ryan Payton assunto da MS per collaborare all'Halo di Peter Jackson?

Il rumor arriva da Kotaku, pare che Ryan Payton, assistentente produttore di kojima per Metal Gear Solid 4:

Rumor has it that Ryan Payton, late of Kojima Productions, has landed a pretty impressive job here in the states.

Our very reliable sources tell us that Payton has been hired by Microsoft to be the creative director on the upcoming, and still not dead, Peter Jackson Halo game.

The news, very reliable news, comes weeks after we broke the news that Gearbox Director of Technology Corrinne Yu had been hired by Microsoft Game Studios to be Principle Engine Architect for Microsoft's Halo Franchise Team.

Rumor had it at the time that Yu and her husband, Kenneth Scott were both joining Microsoft Game Studios. Scott is an art director at id Software.

Payton, assistant producer on Metal Gear Solid 4, has been credited with spearheading a more Western approach to controls for Metal Gear Solid 4, making the game far more approachable and much tighter than the previous installment. He also helped warm the MGS4 team up to more Western developed games like Gears of War as well.

Following yesterday’s price cut announcement and denials from Microsoft that it’s planning to hold an event at all, we checked with our source again to see what’s what, with interesting results.

Our source assured us that despite the price cut announcement yesterday, the event is definitely due to go ahead next week, and that Microsoft will make lots of announcements.

Sadly, our source was unable to reveal what these announcements will be, but did throw a little light on when the event may take place.

With longstanding rumours suggesting that a Bungie related announcement could be coming on 25 September, we asked our source whether this was the date when the mysterious event will take place.

Our source said that this was a date they had heard of in relation to the event, but wasn’t in a position to confirm it.

At this point, we’d like to remind everyone that this is all still rumours. Nevertheless, our source is well placed, so it should be interesting to see what happens next week.

Non é un'evento segreto, é praticamente una versione ridotta dell'0X, il salone per la stampa europea che M$ organizzava ogni anno. Quest'anno non lo faranno, al posto realizzeranno questa conferenza stampa, e non é segreta, semplicemente non hanno ancora comunicato nessun data dell'evento, le voci di corridoio lo danno per la prossima settimana il 25 settembre.

Baldur's Gate III rumours persist

A third instalment in the Baldur's Gate series is tipped to be in development, without original creator BioWare.

Although it won't be ready for at least another year, we've heard the RPG sequel is coming along at an as-yet-unnamed developer and Neverwinter Nights 2 house Atari - which recently released a series compilation on PC-DVD - is said to be handling the publishing duties.

The acclaimed RPG series hasn't seen a proper release since 2001's Baldur's Gate II: Throne of Bhaal, and has been the subject of constant rumour and speculation since.

A third game was even said to be in development at on-off Baldur's expansion dev Black Isle Studios, which has now been closed.

Original members of Black Isle have since founded Obsidian Entertainment, which helmed a sequel to BioWare's Neverwinter Nights.

Obsidian is a possibility then but the developer behind the third Baldur's Gate is still a mystery to us, although we've heard it's a studio more than capable of making a fantastic looking production. Speculate away.

When contacted Atari said it had no comment to make except that Baldur's Gate is "one of the properties Atari has rights to".

Xbox 360 cambierà nome in “Xbox Pure“. Questa voce di corridoio, che diamo per probabile come lo Zambia che vince la coppa del mondo o Gabe Newell primo in una gara di fitness, è stata diffusa ieri dal sito Cheap Ass Gamer, e subito ha fatto il giro di internet.
Il sito dice che la fonte della notizia ha già fornito in passato informazioni sicure, come l’Xbox 360 con HDMI o le prime foto della versione Elite.
Noi diciamo che di tutte le vocine e vocette di corridoio finora riportate nella breve ma intensa storia di Gamesblog, questa ci pare onestamente la più cretina. Se poi i fatti ci smentiranno, pazienza.

Project Gotham Racing 5 dagli sviluppatori di Forza Motorsport?



Una voce corre insistente nelle ultime ore e sembra confermare che sia Turn 10, team di Forza Motorsport, a sviluppare il prossimo Project Gotham Racing, come vi avevamo accennato tempo fa.
Come si sa, il vecchio team di sviluppo Bizzarre Creation, dopo essere stata acquisita da Activision, annunciò che Project Gotham Racing 4 sarebbe stato l’ultimo capitolo sviluppato da loro.
Si è sempre atteso di sapere quale sarebbe stato il futuro sviluppatore della famosa saga arcade di auto e pare che la prossima settimana ci debba essere un annuncio ufficiale a riguardo. Non ci resta che attendere.

As part of his keynote address in Singapore, Crytek's Cevat Yerli has revealed that the next generation of their proprietary technology will be available for the next generation of console hardware in 2010. Yerli added that Sony knows when it is planning to release the PS4 but wouldn't tell them, although he expects the next Xbox a year before PS4.
