COS'E' IN BREVE

Doug did not provide specs, but he made things pretty clear: "[Is this only for the highest of high machines?] Absolutely. It is. No bones about it. This is targeted at the super-hardcore, early adopter guy or gal who's got the latest and greatest and really the horsepower to haul, you know, these new APIs and new lighting tricks."
PCGamer UK (Maggio 2005)
"The scale of the vistas VALVe intend to show us have been dramatically upscaled. The Lost Coast is all about stretching the PC's resources to the limit." Which is indeed true, seeing as the minimum specs are going to be a 3.2Ghz CPU, 1GB RAM, and a top of the line graphics card.
PERCHE' QUEI REQUISITI?
bellaLI! ha scritto lun, 25 luglio 2005 alle 23:36
The reason the Lost Coast will be so incredibly
CPU intensive is a combination of several factors

the High Dynamic Range Rendering
incredibly detailed textures
high-resolution cubemaps
render-to-texture tech used on water shaders
liberal use of bump/normal/displacement mapping
high polygon counts
large maps and the long view distances
Rest assured, aftermath will be less CPU intensive; and by the time it comes out, upgrading to a level where it plays comfortably if you haven't got the necessary hardware shouldn't be a problem.
Or you could just turn it off.
